Encounters:
End neighbor's dog barking/growling in the driveway. Temba noticed, but didn't react. Good dog!
Human+dog coming our way near Nantucket loop trail. Treated him for noticing, and ducked into the trail. Exited through Colony Loop. Saw another dog coming our way, and took him up Jamestown a little bit. Looped through first Ravencrest parking lot, and back around Jamestown. Headed back to Independence, and there was a little Terry dog ("Poochie") barking at us from the little porch. Owner was yelling at it to shut up. Treated Temba for being a good dog, noticing but not reacting, not pulling!
Headed back home, no other encounters. Really good loose leash on the way back. Treated him for walking nicely. Almost lunged at a car while he was sitting still, but redirected him just in time.
Downtime.
Dinner in snuffle rug.
Went outside for a few rounds of fetch. Practiced leave-it (x2).
Neighbor dogs came out to bark after I went back inside to wait for him to finish. Temba ran to the fence to start barking, tail wagging rapidly (?stress or ?excited?). Didn't claw at the fence, so that's a plus. I shoved a few treats into his face, and he took them nicely. I was able to give him treats while the other dogs were basically barking right in his face on the other side of the fence. After a few more treats, I told him "let's go" and he came with me! Amazing progress in his behavior! He ran back to the fence a couple times when the dogs started barking again, but I again treated him (took treats nicely), and verbally redirected him with 100% success.
Gave him a large Kong filled with a paste made of treat crumbs, kibble, cheese, boiled chicken, dried chicken, wet food, and peanut butter.
Walk outside for pee and poop. Saw a human+ small dog walking toward us. Treated him for staying calm.
Left him with dog biscuit & Kong, returned after 2 hours.
Bedtime.
