Barking at a plastic bag, nipped sleeve

Brief playtime with Starmark ball.
Went to PetSmart for our morning breakfast walk. As we were getting out of the car, Temba saw a plastic bag that was wrapped around a car's side mirror. He lunged and sniffed at it, I guess because it looked like a creature of some kind. Silly dog.
The rest of the morning walk went pretty well, wearing the head harness.

As we were approaching the PetHotel counter from the side, there was another dog with its owner approaching from the normal head-on direction. We stayed back about 8-10 ft while they got checked in. The dog, a small terrier, began barking/lunging at us. Temba just looked at the dog and didn't really react. Not sure if he was mostly anxious about leaving me but it was nice not to be the one reacting for once. I also continued to give treats while he stood there not reacting. Once they were finished we approached the counter (semi-willingly). While we were checking in, the previous dog's human returned to drop off some treats. Temba stared at her interesting interestedly as she walked up, and bit her sleeve as she got very close. He let go immediately, but it was an embarrassing moment. Human didn't seem too bothered by it. In hindsight I should have seen the signs of increased anxiety and redirected him as she approached.
Later in the day I got a call that the incident was reported to animal control. Apparently Temba now has to be quarantined for 10 days. Agh!

Busy night on call, so he's staying the night at Petsmart. Meeting the animal control officer tomorrow.
