Eliminated food economy, as part of the CARE plan.
Went for a walk first thing after waking up at around 8 AM. At first I put on his thunder shirt in an effort to keep him calm. I also attached his head collar for the walk and put on his booties which he tolerated pretty well.
He was shaking off a lot For the first part of the walk I think trying to get rid of the thunder shirt. I took this off for the rest of the walk and he seemed okay without it.
As we rounded the corner we saw a dog and its humans playing in the snow along the path. In the other direction was a man walking away from us. We decided to walk in the direction of human instead of dealing with the dog plus two humans. He tried to pull forward a little bit at first, but settled down into a polite walking pace.
I clicked and treated for the entire walk and he was pretty attentive to me the whole time. No lunging/barking at cars.
Played in the yard for a few minutes until his feet got too cold.
Relaxing at home, there was a sound of wood shifting due to cold. Temba have a very brief "grrf", but nothing more.
Played fetch outside in the early afternoon but it was way too cold horsefeed so we continue playing inside for a little bit and then did some training with "platz". He's getting better at this.
Mid afternoon, I went out to get some errands done. I also purchased a new Chuckit ball Because I couldn't find the other one that in lost on the other side of the fence. Came home, played fetch with the new ball outside and almost lost the ball again twice.
Temba had quiet time for a couple hours while I did some work. We went out for a dinner/training walk (head collar, booties, body harness for backup). I clicked & treated his attention on me throughout the walk. He remained attentive to me for pretty much the entire walk. In the middle of the walk we saw a couple people heading our way on the other side of the street. I thought I saw a dog but it turned out they did not have one. We walked the other way anyway and avoided them until they turned the corner after which we continued on our way. He did not bark or lunge at all. Towards the end of the walk he started pointing and growling at something in the darkness. This turned out to be a moose hanging out right next to the sidewalk. Of course we turned around and went the other way. His barking was minimal, and his post exposure excitement only lasted for about a minute.
Once we got home we trained "platz" some more.
Bedtime around 9pm.
