(Went for a walk last night around 6pm after dinner. In hindsight I should have taken him out one more time before bedtime.)
This morning Temba had finished his breakfast as I was getting ready to go in the shower. He stood by the sink and looked up at me expectantly. I should have known then, but I went into take a shower. When I got out, I smelled the deeds. He had pooped on the carpet side of the bathroom doorway, and urinated on the cardboard box with his toys etc.
Gah!
He briefly had his ears flat, but tail was loose and not tucked. So he's not anxious/nervous about having pooped inside? Not sure what that means.
I grumbled to myself, but remained calm, semi-scolding him in a soothing voice, and cleaned up.
On a positive note, he happily walked in to Arctic Tails after a walk around the block there. Did ok on the walk without treats or toys. I think he's starting to enjoy Arctic Tails. Next time I might walk/play with him before leaving to see how he does.
Also, note to self: Go outside around 8-9 pm regardless, to get Temba to poop/pee. Maybe I need to get him used to going outside alone and doing his thing...? That's a battle for another day.
Coming back home I got stuck in fresh snow as I tried to pull into the garage.
I put Temba inside at first but let him out to play with his ball while I shoveled. When the neighbor arrived he lunged, barked, and nipped her finger. I grabbed him by the harness and led him inside. Thankfully he didn't break skin.
I think now we have to avoid all contact with other humans for the time being.
Our after dinner walk was much less eventful.
We took a long loop around the block and walked for about an hour. There was lots of fresh powder in which he excitedly jumped around. I treated him frequently during the walk but for the most part he remained attentive. I also used the easy walk head collar, which could be the reason he wasn't pulling much.
I rewarded his good behavior on the walk with a brief game of fetch in the back yard.
