on-call day
Breakfast this morning with Starmark treat ball and slow-feeder. Immediately after he finished eating, I heard (and smelled) him peeing on the cardboard toy box, where he had peed just yesterday. I was in the bathroom.
AGH!
Why? Maybe he's still stressed from yesterday? He lay down with his head between his paws, ears flat and looking up at me as I cleaned up. I gentle-voice scolded him, but he didn't seem much bothered by it.
[ ] Get rid of the box
[ ] take him out to pee first thing before breakfast?
After I showered and got ready, we drove to Petsmart. I had put on his head collar because he seems to be better with it. Once we were parked, he just sat in his seat and did not want to come out of the car. I tugged on his leash but he stayed put. I had to almost pick him up to drag him out of the car. We went for a walk around the building, and he seemed pretty attentive to me. There were no triggers for him to lunge at outside. Inside Petsmart, we took a roundabout route to get to the Pethotel desk and waited for the attendant. A couple of large GermanShepherd dogs were behind us waiting their turn. He barked and lunged at them but I had him on leash. I handed him off to the attendant who took him into the back.
I have a feeling Temba doesn't like Petsmart. Maybe because their play time only starts at 9am and he might be (I think) kept in a kennel/room until then. I will have to look into boarding at one of the other day care places.
I am post-call tomorrow, so I might try pre-drive potty and trial a pretend-daycare day.

Picked him up from daycare at around 5:15 PM. They had not fed him yet which meant that I would have good opportunities for training. We went home and played fetch outside in the yard, then went for a training/potty walk around the block (minus Lake Otis/Ridgemont). There were no distractions, so he did pretty well and kept his attention on me. Feed him most of his dinner during the walk.
After we got home we trained "platz" for a few minutes with the rest of his dinner. Responds pretty reliably to luring/gesture and responded at least once to verbal cure without hand gesture.
Played fetch outside after a little downtime for me to eat. Lost the ball over Western fence When it bounced off his mouth. I went back to look for it but the snow was extremely deep (about knee high) and it was dark. Planning to try again tomorrow.
